The people of Copthorne in Bradford were jumping for joy on 16 November after their high-profile campaign for £50,000 worth of funding for their area ended in triumph.

Copthrone Association beat off competition from other Yorkshire communities and got their hands on the funding after appearing on ITV's Calendar news, with viewers voting for who they thought most deserved the money.
Vice chairman of the asso
ciation Naveed Mushtaque told Asian Leader: "It's amazing, we had everybody voting for us and I'm so pleased to get the money that this area so desperately needs."
There were eight Yorkshire communities who filmed short videos for the news programme, with five pots of £50,000 up for grabs as two groups went head to head throughout the week.
Mr Mushtaque said: "The residents teamed up with the staff and kids at Copthrone Primary School and on the day we appeared, we all went out and about Bradford handing out leaflets and asking people to vote for us."
The Copthorne Association will be using the money to build a multi-use games area which will be available to the school during the day and the community on evenings and weekends.
Copthorne Primary School headteacher, Naila Zaffar, said: "We didn't just want to rely on viewer votes, so local people, staff and children went out into Bradford and got people to phone and text in."
"It's been a real effort by everyone and a fairytale ending."
The new games area will include football pitches, basketball courts, cricket facilities and a range of other sports.
