School children and local residents of Lister, Bradford, are getting involved in a new scheme to help boost the environment in their area.

Kids from Lister Primary School and people from the near-by area have become the first recipients of communications company O2's It's Your Community Award and received a cheque for £600 on 7 December, which will now see the school gardens transformed into a place the community can be proud of.
Lister Primary Schools Partnership Manager, Sajid Mahmood said: "This project through the school will reach out into their local community and bring people together to work on improving these gardens."
The school garden will be the base for a gardening club and will see children and their parents learn how to put together hanging baskets, window boxes as well as how to create a vibrant garden.
Mr Mahmood added: "This isn't just for the benefit of the school because the flowers and plants will be taken back to the children's own streets and houses, which in a built up urban environment with precious few green spaces can look bleak enough."
