The BBC Sports Personality of the year award might be out of the way for another year, but the SET Asia Sports Awards are still after nominations for the sixth annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards to be held in February 2007.
Last years nominees including a host of stars from the Northwest and Yorkshire region and winners included Leeds teenage golf sensation Kiran Matharu.
The awards attract a range of sporting heroes and past attendees have included Spurs footbal
ler Jermain Defoe and England batsmen Kevin Pieterson, as well as top pop stars acts like Girls Aloud and Westlife.
Olympic silver medallist and two times winner of the SET Sports Personality of the Year award, Amir Khan says: "The awards are a great celebration of British Asian sporting talent of all ages and it is an honour to be recognised in this way."
"I hope that the event further inspires others to pursue a career in sport and maybe even represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games in London 2012".
Last years winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Nasser Hussain OBE, added: "Obviously I was thrilled to receive something like this after I had stopped playing cricket. It is a great honour."
