Magical Monty
by CHRIS BRADY
England fans favourite Monty Panesar reinforced his reputation as one of the best up and coming spin bowlers in world cricket with a five-wicket haul on his Ashes debut.
Panesar became the first English spinner to take five-wickets in one innings in Perth, giving England the perfect start to the third Ashes Test.
It was a dream start to his first test match against Australia, taking 5 for 92 from 24 overs, made all the more impressive achieved on a pitch made notorious for favouring fast bowlers.
After watching England lose the first two tests, struggling to bowl out the Australian team, many of England's travelling 'Barmy Army' followers were calling for Panesar to be called up into the team, a sentiment backed up by many former England stars and cricket pundits.
The spinner didn't disappoint and took the highly sought after wickets of Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist, as well as the lower order trio of Symonds, Warne and Lee.
