Ace Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar has launched his third film in the Mumbai trilogy "Signal" based on the lives of common men in Mumbai.
Bhandarkar opened his Bollywood innings with his highly successful Chandni Bar. Made at an estimated budget of Rs.20 million, the movie baggedsizeable profits in every territory. It also helped Tabu to win the coveted Urvasi Award. According to indus
try sources, Corporate will enter Bollywood history as one of the most successful films in 2006.
His first movie in the series "Page 3" exposed the glamorous world of rich and famous and the highly successful "Corporate" explores the underbelly of the business world and reveals its darker side.
The film is another milestone for Bipasha Basu. Bhandarkar had originally approached Aishwarya Rai for Bipasha's role, but she turned it down due to date problems. So Bipasha's gain is Aishwarya's loss.
The buzz in Mumbai is that "Corporate" is actually a remake of Shyam Benegal's 1980 drama "Kalyug". But the director denied it.
"There may be some similarities, but definitely it is not a remake," Bhandarkar said.
"Corporate" is in the series of my trilogy of films starting with Page 3 and ending with Signal. All the 3 films reflect the present social structure of our city Mumbai. The city of Mumbai is the common thread line in connecting the three films.
